Thread: Why I get loads of Medics

Default Why I get loads of Medics

While I was playing on the Ubercharged.net servers a couple of nights back, a random person on VOIP asked me why I have so many damn Medics. Here's what I told him: I am 22, I am mature, and I am polite.

Politeness isn't something most modern gamers think about nowadays, but I believe the reason so many Medics follow me at any one time is because nowadays I treat everyone who plays on a server with almost unconditional civility.

“*GASP* COULD DRUSS BE SERIOUSLY SUGGESTING THAT I MAKE FRIENDS WHEN I’M PLAYING A GAME?”

Why, yes. Maybe I’m being old fashioned (and I hope I’m not because I’m only 22), but I don’t think many players play multiplayer games to listen to someone repeatedly swearing or talking smack over VOIP, not that there's anything wrong with smack or swearing but it would be if it makes up most of your banter. When you act maturely and request someone help you defend or something chances are they will see you’re there for the same reason they are - to have fun.

So the next time you're playing a game, wish your players good luck at the beginning of the round (gl & hf), congratulate someone on an impressive kill, do your best not to razz 'n jazz. Just behave...

    ...

...or maybe I'm just a Medic whore. Who knows?

I play medic a lot... far to often truth be known.
One reason some people are more "popular" heals is that as a medic you get tired very quickly of those people who are just quite frankly a waste of time healing.

People with no sense of self preservation (I have a medic, time to leeroy the entire bloody server!)

Sollys who constantly scream for a medic while brandishing an equaliser, or who swap to one as soon as you uber them.

On payload servers people who just sit back spamming shite randomly, they are doing nothing useful so why bother with them?

I personally try to spread the heals around, its a simple option to turn on the autocalls for a medic, so I heal people I can see need it, not those that spam calling for one.

For all these reasons and yes, a little common decency and respect for other people on the servers will lead to some players being targeted by the medic more often

Hopefully melonheads servers are friendly and polite all the time, it's what we want anyway. Like you said, nobody likes whiney kids on there all the time; they think that the should scream abuse at everyone because they can and they are annonymous.

I am sorry. The only time I ever saw you play you were torturing this poor kid. "Combine Renegade" I do believe. You were anything but polite and gracious to him. He had a high voice so you sat there and ripped the pish out of him.

He wasn't a terrible player, he wasn't mic spamming, he wasn't swearing or screaming.

He wasn't nasty or swear allot either.

Still, you felt that this one kid deserved the slagging of his life just because the lads nuts hadn't dropped.

So, please don't come here with your self righteous posts.

Hell maybe you have changed. I hope so. You were a total arse that night.

Well I've certainly made a few medic buddies from the "polite" approach, although I can honestly say I have never read your suggestions, Druss. Maybe it's because of my polite Cheshire upbringing, idk.
